Istanbul Galata University

Istanbul Galata University is a young private university opened in 2020 in the historic central area of Istanbul's European side. Its focused catalogue brings together Dentistry, health sciences, Psychology, design, communication, Gastronomy and sport sciences.

A central city location provides access to Istanbul's cultural and professional life, while the relatively compact academic structure can make the university easier to navigate. Neither advantage replaces a program-level review of clinical facilities, studios, laboratories and teaching staff.

Galata is most relevant to applicants seeking central Istanbul, applied Turkish-medium programs and a small number of English options. Dentistry requires a separate multi-year budget and recognition plan; Psychology, design and health sciences each need different evidence of quality.

Because the university opened recently, a broad international ranking is not the strongest selection tool. Review the curriculum, teaching language, practical hours, clinical or studio infrastructure, and recognition of the exact qualification.

For Dentistry, examine pre-clinical laboratories, the transition to patient care and material costs. For Psychology, look at research methods and supervised practice. For design and communication, review production facilities and student portfolios.

Key programs include Dentistry, Psychology, Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics, Interior Architecture, Management Information Systems, Communication Design, Public Relations, Gastronomy and Coaching Education. English is available in Dentistry, Psychology and Interior Architecture; most other undergraduate routes are Turkish-medium.

The Vocational School offers two-year programs in Anaesthesia, Medical Imaging, First and Emergency Aid, Physiotherapy, Oral and Dental Health, Pharmacy Services and Cookery.

The verified official tuition page is for 2024/25; no current 2026/27 undergraduate table was verified. The figures below are published and must not be used for payment without a new written offer.

The published 2024/25 table lists the full annual fee for many Turkish-medium bachelor's programs is $5,600, with a published discounted fee of $2,800. Nursing and Nutrition and Dietetics are around $5,700 and approximately $2,850 after discount. English Psychology and Interior Architecture cost $6,700, or $3,350 after discount.

• Dentistry in Turkish: $25,000 full fee; $12,500 discounted.
• Dentistry in English: $29,000 full fee; $14,500 discounted.
• Most associate programs: $3,000 full fee; $1,850 discounted.
• Associate Physiotherapy: $2,900 full fee; $1,450 discounted.

The final amount must appear in the offer. Check tax, materials and language preparation separately.

Istanbul Galata University campus has many student clubs such as Psychology Club, Gastronomy Club, Photography Club and others that offer a variety of opportunities for personal growth and interaction with other students.

Although the university does not have its own dormitories, students usually live near the campuses, which provides convenient access to social activities and academic buildings. The university helps students find housing.

The standard application set includes a passport, diploma or expected-graduation letter, transcript and photograph. Creative programs may request a portfolio, while Dentistry and health-science applications are supported by strong Biology and Chemistry results.

English-medium applicants demonstrate English or take the university assessment; Turkish-medium applicants need Turkish proficiency or preparation. StudyU can review the application and financial offer, while the university decides admission and discount.

Look for evidence

A recently opened institution has a shorter graduate record, so applicants should ask for measurable program evidence: curriculum, practical hours, staff qualifications, facilities and placement arrangements. The relevant proof is different for every field.

Galata currently lists four application and research centres: Oral and Dental Health, Continuing Education, Distance Education and Turkish Language Teaching. For an international student, TOMER is the most immediately practical because it runs Turkish courses and proficiency examinations, while UZEM is the university's distance-education centre.

A centre name does not prove automatic access to a research or clinical placement. Dentistry applicants should still verify the transition from pre-clinical work to patient care, and Turkish-medium applicants should confirm the required TOMER level and preparation timeline.

Dentistry

Compare the total cost across all years, teaching language, pre-clinical laboratories, patient exposure and instrument expenses. English tuition does not remove the need for Turkish in local clinical care. Research recognition in the future country of practice before enrolling.

Psychology, health and design

Psychology should include statistics, methodology and ethical practice. Nursing and Nutrition need credible clinical placements. Interior Architecture and Communication Design depend on studio process, software and portfolios. The same 50% discount does not make these degrees interchangeable.

Central Istanbul budget

The location supports access to museums, employers and creative activity, but nearby housing can be expensive. Compare a walkable option with a less central home on a direct transport line. Add deposit, food, insurance, residence permit and course materials.

Offer red flags

Do not pay an offer that omits the exact program, language, academic year, amount in USD or refund terms. A statement of “up to” a percentage is not the same as a final discounted fee.
