Study to Become a Psychologist in Turkey
Turkish universities teach psychology in English and Turkish. Clinical practice requires further postgraduate training, so check the rules of the country where you plan to work. You need a high-school diploma, a language certificate and denklik; YÖS is not required at every university. The degree usually takes 4 years. Career directions to investigate
A psychology bachelor’s provides research training. Requirements for clinical, counselling and school roles differ by country and profession. In Turkey, Law 1219, additional article 13 defines a clinical psychologist through specified postgraduate clinical training. It permits psychotherapy for illness only following diagnosis and referral by the relevant specialist physician. For practice abroad, check the target country’s qualification, supervised-practice and registration requirements before choosing a degree. The roles below describe possible directions, subject to their own entry requirements.
Research assistant: collecting and coding data and reviewing literature for university or market-research projects.
HR or people-analytics assistant: using the survey design and statistics taught in the degree.
UX research assistant: after adding interviews and usability testing to your methods training.
Coordinator of social or educational programmes: in NGOs, schools and municipal projects.

Life beyond classes
What happens outside lectures depends on the university, so ask the department what it actually runs: research participation and assistant roles in faculty studies, psychology clubs and observation placements.
Ask whether the curriculum includes a compulsory internship (staj), how long it is, whether the university helps find a placement and whether a placement in your home country counts. For a semester abroad, ask which Erasmus+ partner universities the department has and whether international degree students can apply; a visa for the host country is a separate step.
What specialists earn in Turkey and abroad
The Turkish market. Psychology graduates in Turkey are hired by private clinics, schools, HR departments and online counselling platforms; clinical work and private practice need the postgraduate training and registration described above. Pay ranges move every year alongside minimum-wage revisions, which makes only the current year's numbers reliable.

For a psychology bachelor’s, prepare school documents and check the university’s exam, language and registration rules. A university proficiency test or preparatory route may be available without an external language certificate. Completing a bachelor’s does not automatically qualify you for clinical work: Turkey’s clinical-psychologist route is defined in Law 1219, additional article 13, and another country may set different requirements.
