Yeditepe University: Admission and Fees for International Students

📍 Turkey

Yeditepe University is a private foundation university on Istanbul's Asian side, set up in 1996 by the ISTEK foundation (İstanbul Eğitim ve Kültür Vakfı). Its entry bar for international applicants is modest: its rules accept a school certificate averaging 60%, a SAT of 960 or TR-YÖS 350, with higher thresholds for medicine, dentistry and pharmacy. Tuition for new students in 2026/27 runs from $16,000 to $30,000 a year on most programmes, $45,000 for medicine and $73,000 for dentistry. Medicine is taught in English; dentistry in Turkish and English.

Who Yeditepe suits

Most international applicants choose Yeditepe for English-taught medicine or dentistry in Istanbul, or for a wide programme range with a moderate entry bar. It is not a budget option: most programmes cost $16,000–30,000 a year, less than Koç ($38,000) but many times more than public İTÜ or METU. It also runs a Russian Language and Literature programme and German- and French-taught tracks.

If research standing and rankings matter most, compare Koç and Sabancı. For medicine on a smaller budget, look at Medipol and Bahçeşehir, plus our overviews of medicine and dentistry in Turkey. See also universities in Istanbul and the Turkey hub.

Programmes and languages

Yeditepe has 13 faculties and a school of applied sciences. Main options for international students:

Field Examples Language
Medicine Medicine, six years English
Dentistry Dentistry, five years Turkish and English
Pharmacy Pharmacy See faculty page
Engineering Computer, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Biomedical, Industrial English
Business Business Administration, International Trade, Logistics, Finance, International Business in German English, German
Social sciences and law Political Science and International Relations (also in French), Psychology, Law English, French, Turkish

Check the language on each faculty page before applying, especially for law and Turkish-language programmes. Dual-degree tracks exist, for example business with the University of North Carolina Wilmington and finance with SUNY New Paltz.

What are the entry requirements?

Minimum requirements are set in Yeditepe's international admission guidelines (latest published version 2024):

Qualification Minimum
School certificate (attestat: Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and others) Average of 60%
Russia, EGE At least 3 out of 5 on the university's scale
Kazakhstan, ENT At least 50 out of 125
SAT 960 out of 1600; 1300 for Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy
ACT 21 out of 36
A-levels At least two passes at grade C
IB Diploma 25 out of 45; 27 for Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy
TR-YÖS 350 out of 500; 425 for Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy
YÖS of other Turkish universities At least 50%

A note for applicants from Russia: the International Baccalaureate Organization is on Russia's list of undesirable organisations; this does not affect Yeditepe's assessment of the IB Diploma.

Meeting the minimum lets you apply; the International Student Admission Committee ranks candidates within quotas using scores, grades, references and the letter of intent. Quotas are set by the Senate and reported to Türkiye's Council of Higher Education (YÖK); for medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and law, moving places between programmes needs YÖK approval. TR-YÖS and SAT results are valid for two years. A school certificate alone is a weak basis for medicine or dentistry, which carry separate higher thresholds. See our YÖS guide.

How do you apply to Yeditepe?

  1. Apply online via apply.yeditepe.edu.tr during the intake; questions go to int@yeditepe.edu.tr.
  2. Upload the application form, diploma, transcripts for all upper-school years, TOEFL iBT or a result accepted by Yeditepe's preparatory school, passport page and letter of intent, with certified translations if not in English or Turkish.
  3. Receive a conditional acceptance letter by email.
  4. Register in person with originals, translations, denklik, two photos, the acceptance letter and the signed learning agreement; registration by post is not accepted.

Denklik is Türkiye's equivalence certificate for a foreign school diploma, issued by the Ministry of National Education; getting it at a Turkish consulate in advance is usually faster. See our denklik guide.

English. Teaching is mainly in English, so at registration you need TOEFL iBT or Yeditepe's preparatory-school exam. Without one you join the preparatory year, priced at $18,000 for 2026/27. According to Yeditepe's FAQ, a TOEFL iBT of 79 or more exempts you from the preparatory year (scores are valid for two years).

How much does Yeditepe cost in 2026/27?

Yeditepe publishes annual fees in dollars for new students in 2026/27, VAT included:

Programme Annual fee
Dentistry $73,000
Medicine $45,000 (a second row shows $40,000, see below)
Computer Engineering $30,000
Pharmacy, Gastronomy $24,000
Psychology $21,000
Other engineering, Architecture, Law, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Translation $20,000
Business, Economics, International Relations, Media, Tourism $18,000
Education, Mathematics, Physics, Philosophy, Sociology, Russian Language and Literature, Arts $16,000
English preparatory year $18,000

Payment terms. The listed fee applies when the full year is paid upfront by bank transfer or a single card charge; instalment plans add 15%. Increases in later years are set by the Board of Trustees in line with inflation and the university budget.

How to read the table. Medicine appears twice: Faculty of Medicine at $45,000 and Medicine (Bachelor) at $40,000, and the page does not say which applies to the international quota, so budget for $45,000 and rely on the figure in your acceptance letter. The reduced columns ("%50 Burslu", places with a 50% scholarship, and "Başarı Sırası %15 Destek Burslu", a 15% top-rank support linked to Türkiye's YKS exam; for example $9,000 instead of $18,000, or $30,000 instead of $40,000 for medicine) belong to Turkish placement categories, and no conditions for international applicants are published. Budget for the full fee unless a reduction is stated in your acceptance letter. Türkiye Bursları (applications 10 January – 20 February) is a separate route; see our Türkiye Scholarships guide. For legal payment routes from Russia, see how to pay for studies abroad from Russia.

How much do international dormitories cost?

Yeditepe publishes a separate price list for international students for 2026/27, VAT included:

Room Annual fee
Single with external view $9,000
Double $7,000
Triple (men's dormitory) $6,000

A $500 deposit is added. For 2026/27, applications ran from 24 to 30 August via a7.yeditepe.edu.tr, results came on 4 September and payment was due by 9 September. A first-year budget for medicine with a double room is roughly $52,000 before food and personal spending; for engineering, about $27,000. Compare with student accommodation in Turkey and the cost of living guide.

Do you need a visa, and how does the residence permit work?

Ordinary Russian passport holders may enter Türkiye visa-free for tourism and business for up to 60 days; Kazakh citizens for up to 90 days in any 180. After registration, students apply for a student residence permit through e-ikamet; Yeditepe's international office helps with paperwork, while Türkiye's migration authority decides. See the Turkey student visa guide.

Master's and PhD

For 2026/27 Yeditepe lists most master's and doctoral programmes at $5,000 per semester (the table also shows 25–50% reduced rates), clinical psychology at $6,000 and dental specialties at $17,000–25,000. Graduate English preparation costs $6,000 per semester, and thesis-only semesters beyond the standard length cost $3,000 (master's) or $4,500 (doctorate). A thesis master's lasts at least four semesters; a non-thesis master's up to three. See master's programmes in Turkey.

Degree recognition and medical practice

Yeditepe awards Turkish state degrees. In Russia, recognition goes through the National Information Center of Rosakkredagentstvo (nic.gov.ru); in Kazakhstan through ENIC-Kazakhstan. For doctors and dentists, recognition does not confer the right to practise: Russia and Kazakhstan each require their own licensing procedure.

Common mistakes

  • Budgeting with a reduced rate from the fee table without a confirmed award.
  • Choosing an instalment plan without allowing for the 15% surcharge.
  • Applying to medicine with a SAT below 1300 or TR-YÖS below 425.
  • Not checking the language of instruction; some programmes are in Turkish, German or French.
  • Missing the short dormitory window at the end of August.

How can StudyU help?

Comparing Yeditepe with other medical and engineering universities in Türkiye, checking how your school certificate meets its requirements, and preparing documents and the application are provided under an agreement with StudyU. Yeditepe decides on admission and any reduction, Türkiye's education ministry issues denklik and the migration authority issues the residence permit.
