Reading a Turkish rental contract
Check five lines before signing: the deposit (standard is one-two months, returnable, in writing), who pays aidat (the building maintenance fee often missed by newcomers), utility transfer (contracts for electricity and water should move to your name or be explicitly included), the notice period for leaving, and notarisation - your ikamet application needs a notarised contract or a dormitory certificate.
