The short answer

International Trade and Business (Uluslararası Ticaret ve İşletmecilik) is a four-year business bachelor's in which marketing, finance, operations and strategy are all taught for companies working across borders. In the 2026 YÖK Atlas catalogue it is offered by 14 private and 18 state universities in Turkey, plus two in Northern Cyprus; 12 of the 14 private universities teach it in English. In Istanbul, published 2026–27 tuition is $8,000 a year at İstinye, $8,500 at Bahçeşehir (BAU), $12,000 at Bilgi and a $25,000 standard rate at Özyeğin before scholarships.

The private universities running it in 2026 are Özyeğin, BAU, Bilgi, İstinye, Yeditepe, Doğuş, Haliç, Piri Reis, Kent, Gelişim, Nişantaşı and Topkapı in Istanbul, Antalya Belek and Konya Food and Agriculture University. Nişantaşı and Antalya Belek teach it only in Turkish; Gelişim and Topkapı offer both languages.

Four Istanbul programmes compared

  • Özyeğin (Çekmeköy, AACSB-accredited Faculty of Business). Year one covers economics and management basics plus business ethics, entrepreneurship, decision-making and negotiation. Year two adds marketing, finance, operations and an intercultural communication sequence. Year three is organised around international business and "sectoral solutions" courses; year four is electives on a chosen region and global strategy. Students are encouraged to learn a second foreign language for their region, and the required internship can be done through an exchange semester abroad or a placement in the region. Graduation: 44 courses, 240 ECTS.
  • Istanbul Bilgi (Faculty of Business). Two years of business and economics come first, including Calculus I and II and two statistics courses. The trade core follows: Fundamentals of International Trade, Managing Multinational Companies, International Trade Law, Big Data in the Global Economy, Strategic Management in Global Industries, Global Marketing Strategy and International Finance. The department is part of the UN-backed Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME).
  • Bahçeşehir (BAU, Beşiktaş, STAR-accredited in YÖK Atlas). The programme focuses on running global operations, working with market databases and spotting opportunities in foreign markets.
  • İstinye (Vadi İstanbul campus). For 2026–27 the university has 80 places for international students on this English-taught programme.

What a graduate should be able to do

Judge whether a company should enter a new country, choose between exporting, a distributor or a subsidiary, cost the launch, adapt the product and message to another culture and negotiate the deal with a foreign partner in English.

What the figures leave out. İstinye asks for at least half of the annual fee at final registration and the rest by 1 December 2026; if you need a preparatory year, it is billed at $8,000 for English or $3,000 for Turkish. Özyeğin considers every applicant for a scholarship automatically; its examples bring the $25,000 rate down to $15,000, $12,500 or $10,000 a year at 40%, 50% or 60%, and a room in its halls starts at about $2,000 a year.

Getting in with an English-taught application

Private universities admit international students on school results through their own online portals; TR-YÖS is needed only where a university asks for it. The package is a passport, school certificate and transcript, and an English certificate if you have one. After the offer letter and first payment you apply for a student visa at a Turkish consulate, then for a residence permit in Turkey. Registration also requires the equivalence certificate (denklik) for your school diploma from Turkey's Ministry of National Education.

English is where the budget can change. Without an accepted certificate you begin with a preparatory year, so four years become five. BAU exempts students with TOEFL iBT 72, PTE Academic 55 or Cambridge Advanced at grade C, and does not list IELTS; Özyeğin asks for TOEFL iBT 80, PTE Academic 62 or Cambridge First at grade B and also leaves IELTS off its list. Haliç, by contrast, accepts IELTS 6.5 alongside TOEFL iBT 75 and PTE Academic 58. Pick the test after you pick the university, not before.

The university decides admission and any scholarship; a Turkish consulate decides the student visa.

A second language and time abroad

Employers hiring for export and regional roles look for languages beyond English. Özyeğin builds this into the degree by recommending a second foreign language tied to the region you specialise in and by letting the internship take place abroad. If you already speak English plus your native language, Turkish is the most useful third language for internships in Istanbul.

Careers

Graduates usually start in international sales or purchasing, export departments, key-account roles with foreign partners, international marketing, trade representations or consulting firms. Under Turkey's migration rules, bachelor's students can work after their first year with a work permit, which makes part-time or internship experience in an export department realistic from year two.

A good fit if you

  • want to work for a multinational or grow the export side of a family business
  • are more interested in marketing, negotiation and strategy than in customs paperwork
  • are willing to add another foreign language

Compare alternatives first if you

  • want a narrow trade profession such as customs broker or trade-finance specialist
  • would rather go deep into finance than spread across management subjects
  • are not yet sure international markets interest you more than domestic ones

Common mistakes

  1. Comparing a list price with a scholarship price. Özyeğin's $25,000 and its $10,000 example are different things; compare offer letters, not headlines.
  2. Ignoring the preparatory year. At İstinye it costs as much as a year of the degree.
  3. Choosing this degree for a customs career. International Trade or Trade and Logistics fits that goal better.
  4. Treating it as the same as Business Administration. The diploma title and the third- and fourth-year courses are different.

Checklist before paying

  • Does the university accept your English certificate, and at what score?
  • Which academic year does the price list cover, and is VAT included? Bilgi's is.
  • For Özyeğin: the scholarship percentage in the offer letter and the conditions for keeping it.
  • For İstinye: the 50% payment at registration and the 1 December 2026 deadline for the balance.
  • A four- or five-year budget with housing, health insurance and the residence permit.
