What this degree covers
Check how mathematics, programming and machine learning support later work in neural networks, language processing or computer vision. Compare model-evaluation tasks and the treatment of data quality and AI ethics.
Use the curriculum and university options below to build a shortlist. Confirm the exact degree level, teaching language, course sequence and practical requirements with each university; similar programme names do not make the courses interchangeable.

Program structure
BAU’s bachelor’s degree takes four years, excluding any language preparation. The list below illustrates topics to look for, from foundation courses to electives and a graduation project; course titles, order and credits differ by university, so compare it with the published curriculum of each programme you shortlist.
- Programming fundamentals in Python
- Calculus
- Linear algebra
- Discrete mathematics
- Data structures and algorithms
- Probability, statistics and optimisation
- Databases and software engineering
- Machine learning and deep learning
- Summer internship (staj)
- Electives in computer vision, natural language processing or robotics
- MLOps and cloud deployment
- AI ethics, privacy and security
- Graduation project with reproducible code
Graduate career paths
Typical first roles are listed below; research posts usually require a master's degree. Check professional-registration requirements in the country where you plan to work, especially for posts using a protected engineer title.
Machine-learning engineers take a model from experiment to production and monitor it once it is live.
Data scientists turn a business question into a hypothesis, test it on data and explain the result.
Data engineers build the pipelines and databases that models depend on.
Computer-vision and NLP engineers work on products that process images, video, speech or text.
Software engineers with AI tasks add models to existing applications and services.
Research engineers, usually after a master's, turn experiments into working code in university or company labs.
Is this your path?
It clicks if you…
- did well in school mathematics and are ready for linear algebra, probability and statistics.
- already write small programs, or are ready to learn Python in the first year.
- are prepared to spend hours finding out why code or a model fails.
- want to build AI systems rather than only use ready-made tools.
Slow down if you…
- mainly want to use AI tools in marketing, design or business without heavy mathematics.
- dislike programming and debugging.
- expect the diploma alone to lead to a job; employers check projects, code and technical English.
Student life
What happens outside lectures depends on the university, so ask the department what it actually runs: hackathons and data-science competitions, research projects with faculty members and student clubs for AI, robotics or software.
BAU requires Artificial Intelligence Engineering undergraduates to complete at least 30 working days of an AI-related internship. For each university, check the required duration, placement support and whether an internship in your home country counts. For a semester abroad, ask which Erasmus+ partner universities the department has and whether international degree students can apply; a visa for the host country is a separate step.
Demand and earning potential
The Turkish market. In Istanbul, banks, e-commerce companies, game studios and start-ups hire developers, analysts and data specialists. Check the working language of each role and compare salary figures for the same year, city, employer and level of experience.
Preparing for applications: use projects and a GitHub portfolio to show how you handle data, evaluate models and maintain working code. Check the vacancy’s English requirements and whether it asks for cloud certifications. A personalised comparison of current salary ranges by city and employer is provided under an agreement with StudyU.
Additional guide to programme language
For students comparing Artificial Intelligence with engineering-focused AI tracks, it helps to separate study level early. BAU lists Artificial Intelligence Engineering as an English-taught bachelor’s degree and Artificial Intelligence as an English-taught master’s degree.
Examples to check with StudyU: Bahcesehir University: Artificial Intelligence Engineering (Bachelor, English); Bahcesehir University: Artificial Intelligence (Master, English, non-thesis; 18 months).
Universities offering Artificial Intelligence
Compare the exact programme names, degree levels and teaching languages below. Bachelor’s fees are annual; master’s fees cover the whole programme. BAU, Okan, Özyeğin and İstinye amounts are for 2026/27; Yaşar’s published general master’s tariff does not state an academic year, so confirm the fee for your intake before paying.

An 11-year school certificate is assessed under the chosen university’s rules. Confirm equivalence, subjects, grades, language and any programme-specific selection requirements before applying. The university decides admission; document recognition and registration remain separate checks.
The listed English-taught degrees have different proficiency rules. BAU’s international admissions page accepts TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic or its own exam and excludes IELTS; scores, exemptions and approved test centres differ by degree level. Confirm the accepted test before booking it. For Turkish-taught degrees, check the university’s Turkish-language requirement. Language preparation may add time and fees before the degree.
How to apply for Artificial Intelligence in Turkey
The university assesses the specific school qualification, subjects, grades and teaching-language requirements for this programme. With an 11-year certificate, confirm eligibility and any exams, portfolio or other selection steps for the chosen intake. Check which language certificates or university assessments are accepted; denklik and registration requirements are separate from admission. Under an agreement with StudyU, we help prepare the agreed application and equivalence documents; the university decides admission and the competent authority decides equivalence. Start 6–9 months ahead to allow time for the university’s published procedure and document checks.
