City St George’s, University of London

City St George’s, University of London was created on 1 August 2024 when City, University of London merged with the medical school St George’s. It combines Bayes Business School, law, journalism and politics with health and medical training across three London campuses.

For students leaving a Russian school, direct first-year entry is usually out of reach; the practical route is the one-year Foundation at the university’s International Study Centre, which accepts an Attestat averaging at least 3 out of 5 with maths at 3 or above.

• Bayes undergraduate tuition: $37,090 (£28,000) a year for international students starting in 2026.
• Foundation 2026/27: $30,460 (£22,995) tuition plus compulsory fees, next start 4 January 2027.
• Good fit: business, finance, law or journalism students who want London work experience.
• Weigh carefully: London living costs are well above the rest of the UK.

The merger added a large medical school. St George’s trains doctors, paramedics, physician associates, biomedical scientists, radiographers, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, and the university describes the combined institution as one of London’s most significant suppliers of health workers.

Applicants therefore face two timelines: business, law, politics and journalism follow the main UCAS deadline of 13 January 2027, while medicine follows the early UCAS deadline of 15 October 2026.

Most humanities, law and social science teaching, including International Politics, happens at Clerkenwell in central London. Moorgate sits beside the City of London financial district, and Tooting in south London is the hospital-based home of St George’s.

Campus also shapes housing: Horton Halls serves Tooting and costs less than the central residences, while Romano Court, Arbour House and The Garden Halls serve the central campuses.

The university publishes fees on each course page. These examples are for September 2026 entry; 2027 rates had not been announced when we checked.

Bayes students can add a paid placement year between their second and final years or study abroad at a partner institution, extending the degree but giving work experience before graduation.

The International Study Centre runs the Foundation in partnership with City St George’s. For Russia it asks for completion of Year 11 or the final Attestat with an average of at least 3/5, including maths at 3/5, and a minimum age of 16.

1. October–November 2026. Choose the degree and Foundation pathway and prepare for IELTS.
2. By 30 November 2026. Confirm the offer to keep the 2026/27 price; later offers may be reissued at 2027/28 rates.
3. December 2026. Student visa, housing and travel.
4. 4 January – 20 August 2027. Three Foundation terms.
5. September 2027. Year one of the degree once progression conditions are met.

Mistakes that push back the start

• Taking a non-UKVI IELTS where the visa needs one, or scoring under 5.0 in writing.
• Planning a January medicine application when the UCAS deadline is in October.
• Budgeting tuition only and forgetting the London living-cost evidence.

• Personal statement and reference for a UCAS degree application
• Extra tests and checks for medical programmes

Students with A-levels or the IB can aim for direct entry: Bayes lists AAA or IB 35 for Accounting and Finance, and International Politics asks for BBB or IB 30. Country-specific equivalences for national diplomas appear on each course page and should be checked before choosing a route.

A Student visa for London requires £1,529 a month for up to nine months (£13,761) beyond unpaid tuition. The visa fee is £558 and the Immigration Health Surcharge £776 per year of leave.

The Bayes International Excellence Scholarship is worth £8,000 for year one to international students who meet their offer conditions and make City St George’s their Firm choice. For September 2026 entry the deadline was 30 June 2026; 2027 terms are not yet published and the business school decides awards.

First-year undergraduates are offered a hall place if they firmly accept via UCAS before 1 July, have a permanent home outside London travel zones 1–6, apply for housing by 1 July and turn 18 by 31 December. Late and Clearing applicants are not covered.

Over a contract of about 40 weeks, a central hall costs roughly $13,250 (£10,000)–$18,020 (£13,600) a year, so housing belongs in the budget from the start.

Students apply for a UK Student visa once the university issues a CAS. Applications made from outside the UK are usually decided within three weeks, and UK Visas and Immigration, not the university, makes the decision.

The Graduate visa lets graduates stay and work. Applications made on or after 1 January 2027 receive 18 months, or three years after a PhD, so today’s applicants should plan around 18 months.
