# Bond University: Admission, 2027 Fees and the Two-Year Bachelor's Degree

Bond University is a private not-for-profit university on the Gold Coast, Queensland, that teaches year-round: three semesters a year mean a standard bachelor's degree takes two calendar years rather than three. Bond is ranked joint 518th in the QS World University Rankings 2027. For school leavers with a Russian certificate, the clear route is the Foundation Program at Bond University College (minimum certificate average of 3), while direct entry to a bachelor's degree is assessed case by case. In 2027 most bachelor's programs cost $18,210 (A$26,200) per semester: about $54,630 for a calendar year of three semesters and $109,260 for the full two-year degree.

As a private university, Bond sets its own fees and calendar, so the fair comparison with public universities is the cost of the whole degree rather than the price of one year. Other Australian options are collected on our [study in Australia](https://www.studyu.org/en/country-australia) page.

## Who Bond suits {#section-1}

| Pros | Cons |
| --- | --- |
| A two-year bachelor's degree lets you enter the job market a year earlier | A calendar year includes three semesters, about $54,630 in tuition alone |
| Applications are free and open all year, with no single closing date | Russian certificates are not listed in the direct-entry qualification table |
| A compact campus where foundation, diploma and degree study sit side by side | There is no long summer break; study runs almost continuously |
| Gold Coast study counts as Category 2 regional, which can add a year to the 485 visa | The accelerated pace is demanding, especially in the first year in a new language |
| 92-week master's versions are designed around the 485 study requirement | On-campus rooms are paid a semester ahead, together with a compulsory meal plan |

Bond suits applicants who value speed, small classes and life by the ocean, and whose budget can absorb a high annual cost in exchange for a shorter degree. If the lowest yearly price or a big city matters more, compare it with [the University of Queensland](https://www.studyu.org/en/university-queensland) in Brisbane and with the wider overview of [universities in Australia](https://www.studyu.org/en/blog-universities-in-australia).

## Entry after Year 11: foundation or college diploma {#section-2}

Bond University College is the university's own pathway unit on the same campus. Its Foundation Program table lists Russia: the Russian certificate of secondary education with an average of at least 3. Kazakhstan is not in that table, so Kazakh certificates are assessed individually.

The direct-entry table for bachelor's degrees (using the Bachelor of Business as the example) lists neither Russia nor Kazakhstan. Bond's rule for unlisted qualifications is an individual assessment. The minimum for this program is an ATAR 65 equivalent or IB 24, and Bond's admissions team decides whether a Russian certificate qualifies for direct entry.

| Item | Foundation Program | Diploma (Business, Legal Studies and others) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Who it is for | applicants who completed the equivalent of Australian Year 11 | applicants ready for university who fall short on grades or English |
| Length | two semesters, about nine months | two semesters, about eight months |
| English | IELTS Academic 5.5, no band below 5.0 | IELTS Academic 6.0, no band below 5.5 |
| Fee, 2027 | $13,370 (A$19,240) per semester; $26,750 (A$38,480) in total | $14,040 (A$20,200) per semester; $28,080 (A$40,400) in total |
| Next step | a Bond bachelor's degree or a diploma, depending on final results | entry to the bachelor's degree at the third-semester mark |
| CRICOS code | 063151G | Diploma of Business: 078663E |

The foundation year covers eight subjects: English and mathematics in both semesters plus subjects in arts, technology, modern history, and communication and culture. The student visa requires attendance of at least 80%. If you are weighing the foundation year against a year at a university at home, see [studying in Australia after Year 11](https://www.studyu.org/en/blog-australia-after-11-years-of-school).

## Bachelor's fees for 2027: judge the whole degree {#section-3}

Bond charges per semester for the subjects you enrol in. For 2027, most single bachelor's programs for international students share one rate of A$26,200 per semester. Law takes eight semesters.

| Programs | Length | Per semester, 2027 | Whole program, 2027 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Business, Commerce, Data Analytics, Enterprise Artificial Intelligence | 2 years, 6 semesters | $18,210 (A$26,200) | $109,260 (A$157,200) |
| Psychological Science, Biomedical Science, Film and Television, Communication, International Relations, Design (Architecture) | 2 years, 6 semesters | same rate | same total |
| Bachelor of Laws | 2 years 8 months, 8 semesters | $18,210 (A$26,200) | $145,680 (A$209,600) |

Some programs also come in a "3-year program" version: the same six semesters spread over three years, at the same total at 2027 rates. It leaves more time for part-time work and adjustment, but you graduate a year later.

For comparison, a three-year Bachelor of Business at a public university in Brisbane costs A$46,800 a year in 2027, or A$140,400 over three years before annual increases. Bond costs about A$16,800 more for the whole degree, yet saves a year of living in Australia, which the visa rules value at around $20,650 (A$29,710). Our guide to the [cost of studying in Australia](https://www.studyu.org/en/blog-cost-of-studying-in-australia) builds the full budget with housing and insurance.

English for bachelor's study. Most programs ask for IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band below 6.0, PTE Academic 58 or TOEFL iBT 79. The Bachelor of Laws needs IELTS 7.0 with no band below 6.5.

## Master's study: standard and 92-week Professional versions {#section-4}

Standard Bond master's degrees by coursework last four semesters, or one year and four months. For the 485 graduate visa, Home Affairs requires at least two academic years of study: 92 weeks of course duration as registered on CRICOS, completed over at least 16 calendar months in Australia. That is why key programs also exist in a Professional version registered at 92 weeks.

| Program | Standard version, 2027 | Professional version (92 weeks), 2027 |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Master of Business Administration | $59,180 (A$85,140), 4 semesters | $63,990 (A$92,070) |
| Master of Business | $58,430 (A$84,060), 4 semesters | $63,240 (A$90,990) |
| Master of Accounting | $57,450 (A$82,660), 4 semesters | $62,270 (A$89,590) |
| Master of Data Analytics | $58,050 (A$83,520), 4 semesters | — |
| Master of Architecture | $78,060 (A$112,305), 4 semesters | — |
| Juris Doctor | $110,570 (A$159,080), 6 semesters | — |
| Master of Laws | $39,530 (A$56,880), 2 semesters | — |

If you plan to work in Australia after graduating, choose a program whose CRICOS duration is at least 92 weeks, or plan a combination of two courses. Home Affairs decides on the 485 visa and does not assess eligibility before you apply. The English threshold for the MBA and most master's programs matches the bachelor's level: IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0. Our [master's in Australia](https://www.studyu.org/en/blog-masters-in-australia) guide explains the formats.

## Bond scholarships for international students {#section-5}

| Scholarship | Value | Condition | For Russian and Kazakh citizens |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| International Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship | 50% of bachelor's tuition | ATAR 95 or IB 38 equivalent; living outside Australia | open to all countries |
| International Stand Out Scholarship | 25% of tuition | ATAR 90 or IB 32; for master's, prior academic results | only citizens of listed countries or international students already living in Australia; Russia and Kazakhstan are not listed |
| BUC Academic Excellence Scholarship | 25% of bachelor's tuition | top Foundation student in the cohort with an average of 85% or more | awarded automatically to Foundation students |

There is no separate application for the Undergraduate Excellence award: eligibility is checked when Bond assesses your program application. You cannot convert a Russian certificate into an ATAR yourself, because Bond sets the equivalent, so count on the 50% award only with excellent grades. The Foundation award goes to one student per cohort. See our overview of [scholarships in Australia](https://www.studyu.org/en/blog-scholarships-in-australia) for other funding.

## On-campus housing {#section-6}

Bond rents on-campus rooms by the semester. Room-only rates for 2026:

| Room type | Per semester, 2026 |
| --- | --- |
| Shared room and bathroom | $2,660 (A$3,825) |
| Own room, shared bathroom | $3,130 (A$4,500) |
| Own room in a two- or three-bedroom flat | $3,280–3,390 (A$4,725–4,875) |
| Own room with private ensuite | $3,280–3,750 (A$4,725–5,400) |
| Same, with a double bed | $3,860 (A$5,550) |

Residents must also buy a dining plan, from $1,670 (A$2,400) per semester. New students starting full degrees receive a 10% discount on room rates. New residents pay the full semester of accommodation and dining at booking, and rooms must be vacated over the Christmas break.

## The 2027 calendar {#section-7}

| Semester | Orientation | Classes start | Semester ends |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| January | 11–15 January | 18 January | 24 April |
| May | 10–14 May | 17 May | 21 August |
| September | 6–10 September | 13 September | 18 December |

Semester fees are due by the Friday of orientation week. You can apply at any time before the semester starts, but leave room for the visa: Bond issues the CoE (Confirmation of Enrolment) only after you accept the offer and pay the deposit.

## Visa, Bond's allocation and work after graduation {#section-8}

The subclass 500 visa is lodged online in ImmiAccount, and the Department of Home Affairs makes the decision. Conditions as at 1 October 2026:

- the charge starts at $1,740 (A$2,500);
- living costs of $20,650 (A$29,710) a year on top of the first 12 months of tuition, plus $1,390 (A$2,000) for travel; parents' annual income of $61,060 (A$87,856) can be shown instead;
- Genuine Student answers must be in English, up to 150 words each;
- biometrics are collected on request: in six Russian cities including Moscow and Saint Petersburg, and in Almaty in Kazakhstan.

The government set Bond's indicative allocation for 2026 at 800 new international students. In the Department of Education report with data as at 25 September 2026, Bond held Priority 1 status. Home Affairs aims to start processing such applications within 1–4 weeks of lodgement (Priority 2: 5–8 weeks; Priority 3: 9–12 weeks), and notes that these periods are based on 2025 lodgements and can change. Priority changes the queue, not the outcome. The National Planning Level for 2027 is 295,000 new international students, unchanged from 2026. Our [Australian student visa](https://www.studyu.org/en/blog-australia-student-visa) guide walks through the steps.

During teaching periods you can work up to 48 hours a fortnight. After a bachelor's or coursework master's degree, a graduate aged 35 or under can receive a two-year 485 visa if the 92-week study requirement is met. The Gold Coast is a Category 2 regional area: a Bond graduate who then lives only in regional areas for two years on the first 485 visa may seek one more year. Home Affairs decides on both visas; details are in our guide to [working while studying and the 485 visa](https://www.studyu.org/en/blog-working-while-studying-and-485-visa-australia).

## Application plan {#section-9}

1. Nine to twelve months before the start. Take IELTS Academic at a test centre, translate your certificate or degree into English and pick a starting semester.
2. Five to six months before. Submit a free application on Bond's portal for the foundation year, a diploma or the degree itself if you want an individual assessment of your certificate.
3. After the offer. Accept it and pay the deposit through Flywire or another method Bond lists; Bond then issues the CoE.
4. Two to three months before. Arrange OSHC and lodge the subclass 500 application; book housing in parallel.
5. On arrival. Attend orientation and pay the semester before the end of that week.

Lawful payment routes from Russia are covered in [how to pay for studies abroad from Russia](https://www.studyu.org/en/blog-how-to-pay-for-studies-abroad-from-russia); applicants from Kazakhstan can use our guide to [studying abroad from Kazakhstan](https://www.studyu.org/en/blog-study-abroad-from-kazakhstan).

## Common mistakes {#section-10}

- Comparing Bond's annual price with public universities. A Bond calendar year contains three semesters, so compare the total for the degree.
- Counting on the 25% Stand Out award. Russia and Kazakhstan are missing from its country list.
- Choosing a standard master's for the 485 visa. A program of one year and four months usually falls short of 92 CRICOS weeks; a Professional version or another course of suitable length is the safer choice.
- Converting your certificate to an ATAR yourself. Bond sets the equivalent, and both admission and scholarships depend on it.
- Leaving housing late. Places on campus are limited, and a booking requires paying the semester and meal plan up front.

## FAQ {#section-11}

### Can I enter Bond University after Year 11?

Yes, through the Foundation Program at Bond University College, which accepts a Russian certificate with an average of at least 3 and IELTS 5.5. Direct entry to a bachelor's degree with a school certificate is possible only after an individual assessment, and Bond makes the admission decision.

### How much does Bond cost in 2027?

The 2027 rate for most bachelor's degrees is $18,210 (A$26,200) per semester. Three semesters fit in a calendar year, which comes to roughly $54,630 a year and $109,260 for the complete degree, before housing, insurance and visa costs.

### Why does a Bond bachelor's degree take two years?

Bond teaches without a long summer break, running three semesters a year instead of two. The degree has the same volume as a three-year bachelor's but is completed faster; some programs offer the same content over three years.

### Does a Bond master's degree qualify for the 485 visa?

Standard four-semester programs are usually shorter than the required 92 weeks. The MBA, Master of Business, Accounting and Finance have 92-week Professional versions. Home Affairs checks the study requirement and decides on the visa.

### Which scholarships are open to Russian citizens?

The realistic options are the International Undergraduate Excellence award (50% with an ATAR 95 equivalent) and the 25% award for the top Foundation student in a cohort. The International Stand Out award is not offered to Russian or Kazakh citizens applying from abroad. Bond decides on scholarships.

### How do the international student caps affect a Bond application?

Bond's 2026 allocation is 800 new international students, and in the report with data to late September 2026 it was at Priority 1. Home Affairs aims to start processing such applications within 1–4 weeks, but only the department can grant or refuse the visa.
